Hairdresser Banned From Taking Hair Home
I spotted an unusual story in the newspaper this week about a Blackburn barber. Not quite related to hair straighteners, but obviously hair related.
The Telegraph reports that Jeff Stone has been banned from taking home all the hair clippings to use as compost. Mr Stone has been ordered to pay £100 for trade waste sacks to put the hair cuttings in – the sacks will be collected from outside his salon and subsequently emptied at landfill sites!
Apparently discarded hair is classed as trade waste and must be appropriately disposed of.
Of course, human hair is biodegradable and very suited to composting so it does seem a little daft that a barber has been banned from taking it home.
What do you think about this? Would you mind if your hairdresser made use of your chopped-off beautiful locks?
